I provide naval architectural services to boat builders, designers and boat owners.  Much of this work is as a result of my investment in Autoship, Autocad and Composite Pro software.  The effectiveness of any software is dependent on experience and from training, which I have.

Digitising new or existing craft
I have been involved in a number of projects requiring the digitising of hull lines based upon either existing drawings or transferring lines from an existing hull.  I use the Autoship suite of Naval Architectural software which allows a hull shape to be accurately modelled, then faired or modified before being output for stability analysis or for plug making.

Stability Analysis
Once a hull has been digitised, a client may require the production of a Stability Booklet, this could be in order to demonstrate compliance with the Recreational Craft Directive, Maritime and Coastguard Agency Codes or to meet RORC safety requirements.  An "inclining test" is carried out on site, which can be efficiently performed using digital technology.  From the data obtained a detailed stability book is produced.  I am able to explain the results and make recommendations if modifications are required.

Plug Making
Another application once the hull has been modelled, is the accurate production of templates for plug production, either by laser cutting, which can be accurate to 0.01mm or for producing mylar templates which can be transferred to frames. Using either of these methods lofting time can be reduced by weeks.

Project Management
I can offer project management services for the whole or this part of the project if required.

Strip Plank Construction
Laser cutting together with Speedstriptm and modern epoxy resin systems lend themselves to fast and cost effective one-off projects, DGNA have experience of both working with other designers to develop suitable structures, or are alternatively happy to develop a yacht to meet your own requirements.

Construction
I can advise on construction and structures in most materials, either by applying scantling standards such as ABS, Lloyd’s, ISO or by using composite design software such as Composite Pro.

Lifting Lines
Sometimes it is necessary to develop a lines plan or a stability book in the absence of any existing data, this requires measuring an existing hull and transferring the data to the Autoship package, I have developed techniques to efficiently carry out this type of work.
